Gracie (JS)'s Story
If you want a low level energy, relaxed, fire place dog Grace is NOT the dog for you! BUT if you live a life filled with adventure, activity, and high level energy and want a dog then look no farther!
She`s sweet, cuddly, loves to give kisses; hike, run, climb, and jog. She doesn`t like water, but will tolerate getting in it. She`s just as powerful as she is sweet and would be great for an experienced owner of powerful dog breeds. She loves to fetch, carry weight, and enjoys long, vigorous walks.
At the end of her active day she will gladly cuddle up next to you and sleep (or on the floor in a crate, she`s fine with either one).
She went to her forster from a local shelter for rehab for her serious dog reactivity, which stemmed from her extreme lack of exercise in the shelter. Since then, she`s become a wonderful dog. She`s made friends with both of the foster`s rescue dogs, can pass by other dogs on a walk like a professional, even if the other dog is out of control, and even knows a couple tricks.
She also walks small leash better than any other dog you`ve probably seen, since she stays beside or behind you the whole time (further showing how loyal and trusting she is).
Grace needs a strong, consistent owner who knows how to provide leadership on a daily basis, since she is a member to such a powerful breed.
Cats are another story, however, since she was attacked by two cats and she has to go to a no cat home (the same goes for a no rodent/small, prey animal home).
Her ideal dog friends would be dogs who are a lower level of energy than her. She needs the proper introduction to other dogs that she`s going to be around (if she`s going to be around other dogs), so the `two week shutdown` is a must.
She loves food, bones, and toys, and is fine with kids (but just like any dog with a child supervision should be given. Excitement is something that should also be limited because it`s an unhealthy state of mind and too much will result in jumping, barking, etc.
I think the ideal home for her would be a family that`s active and always out and about but can be consistent with rules, boundaries, and limitations. Or a young, athletic person who can give her Calm-Assertive leadership and exercise, discipline, then affection.
Grace is super sweet, cute, and will show you unconditional love, loyalty, trust, and respect. And the best part is, you`re helping give a home to a fantastic dog who deserves a great family.
Gracie is in TENNESSEE. Potential adopters will have contact with her foster and have to be approved by her foster during the adoption process.
