Tipper's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Our Resident Miss Smarty Pants!

Tipper isn't just another pretty face...this gorgeous girl is also very smart! She knows dozens of words, commands and tricks (like jumping though a hoop, high five, roll over), and has fun learning new ones. She’s very food oriented, which makes it that much easier to teach her all sorts of new commands. Tipper is also crate & mat trained and sleeps quietly at night like a good girl. Tipper is not a running buddy; she had elbow surgery a couple years back and although she is healthy, her adopters must be diligent to protect her joints.  Tipper is OK with some dogs off leash in a relaxed setting, under the guidance of her trainer. In general, she does not like dogs and is rather reactive particularly on leash or on her territory or when the other dog is tense. In a home setting, she prefers to be an only dog for sure. Here are a few of Tipper's favorite things: puzzles, games, the beach, kiddie pools, fetch, soccer, meeting new people, nose work, low-impact agility, and hanging out on the couch for movie time. So why is such an amazing gal looking for a new home? Tipper's owner is very ill and cannot care for her any longer. She is very sad, but knows that Tipper's needs must come first. We want to help her make sure Tipper is well-cared for in a top notch home. In addition to being an amazing companion, Tipper also comes with the support of her trainer. Tipper has been working with the same trainer for about two years now, a wonderful woman who also wants to make sure Tipper is set up for success in her new life. She has promised to provide training support to Tipper's new adopter, whomever that may be, in order to smooth the transition as much as possible. In a nutshell, Tipper will make an excellent companion for someone looking for a moderate energy, highly intelligent, only dog. If you're interested in being her "second chapter" in life, please let us know.
