Zeus's Story
**Zeus is currently being fostered in Houston. His adoption will be out-of-state, which means, unfortunately, meeting him prior to her adoption will not be possible. His adoption donation is $500, which covers his flight, a new kennel, and of course he is fully vetted. Because flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable.**
One look at our most handsome Zeus and you will know why when we were asked to take him into the rescue we didn’t think twice about it! Zeus is estimated to be a 10 month-old Boxer who will be around 60-65 pounds when he is full-grown.
Zeus has a very typical Boxer personality. He is funny and active, but strong and also a bit headstrong! Zeus’ ideal family will be one that can manage his high level of energy and one that will commit to keeping him active, healthy, can strong. His new family should also understand that having spent time on the streets, he may take some time to fully acclimated into a trust his new family. It is normal for dogs to take time to settle in to their new routines, which means they may have accidents and are likely to investigate (and maybe even chew on) things they shouldn’t. Zeus’ perfect family will be one that believes in positive reinforcement and will be committed to giving him the time he needs to acclimate into a loving family environment. Zeus will be an amazing running and adventuring buddy.
Zeus is an incredibly happy man who has been through basic training and has been well socialized with other dogs. Zeus has spent time living in a foster home with other dogs and small children, he loves to give little kids lots of kisses, but his strong build means that he would be best suited to a family with children who know how to properly and gently interact with dogs. He currently goes to doggy day care a few days a week where he gets to run and play with other dogs his size. Zeus would make a good addition to a home with a similar-size dog (he does better with female or non-alpha dogs) but would also be a great bachelor dog.
Zeus’ favorite activities including running and relaxing out in the warm sunshine. Zeus should be adopted by a family that plans to keep him as an inside pet and member of the family. We do not adopt dogs out that will be left unattended outside for long periods of time or who will primarily live outside.
Zeus is fully vetted (neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped). Zeus is healthy and has no known health issues. He is heartworm negative and has been on flea and heartworm prevention since she was brought into rescue.
The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application through our website at www.reggiesfriends.org. Please hover over the adoptables tab for a link to the application. We can generally process applications within 5-7 days and would like adoptive families to be able to take custody of the dog within two weeks of the process being finalized.
