Mardi's Story
**Mardi is currently being fostered in Houston, his adoption will be out-of-state and there is, unfortunately, no opportunity to meet him prior to her adoption. His fee is $500, which covers his flight, a new kennel, and of course, he is fully vetted and healthy.**Mardi came to us as so many of our amazing dogs do, off the streets of Houston, where he was found in a park by one of our volunteers. Mardi had such an amazing temperament, we knew he would not be safe out in world by himself for too long, so he was brought in to safety. Mardi was severely underweight, had skin issues from malnutrition, and really needed some TLC. Mardi thanked his rescuer and foster with the most love a dog could give anyone. He is sweet, loving, grateful, and a very good boy in all aspects. Mardi has a love of life and a smile that is contagious, he is always happy and excited for his next adventure with his foster family. Mardi has been very well socialized with dogs both big and small, even living for a while with some little Dachshund’s that he adored. However, because of his time on the streets fending for himself, Mardi has a high prey drive and would not be well suited to live with cats. Mardi is a medium energy dog who we think would be best suited for a home with a yard where he could get some daily play time, and maybe a little sunning in! Mardi’s ideal family would be one that would ensure that he gets proper exercise to keep him mentally stimulated and one that wants to take him on all of their adventures with them. Mardi would make an amazing family dog and has been around children, all of whom he loved spending time with. Mardi would make an excellent companion to a family who currently has a dog, but he would also do well as a bachelor dog. Mardi is roughly 55 pounds and fully grown. He has the sweetest little pink nose and a ‘wonky’ ear that often stands up. Mardi is fully vetted (vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped) and is ready to leave rescue behind for the sweet life of a forever family. Mardi is full of life and love. He gets along great with dogs both big and small, but does have a high prey drive from his life on the street, so we do not think he should live with cats. He has been fostered with small children and did amazingly well with them. Mardi would make a great addition to a family but would also be great as a single dog. The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. This can be done through our website at www.reggiesfriends.org – if you hover over the “adoptables” tab, the link to the application will appear. If you have any questions about Mardi, please feel free to email us at [email protected] **Because the flights are so expensive to transport the dogs to their new families, our adoption fee is firm and non-negotiable.**
