Bella's Story
**Bella is currently being fostered in Houston. Her adoption will be out-of-state, which means, unfortunately, meeting her prior to her adoption will not be possible. Her adoption donation is $500, which covers her flight, a new kennel, and of course she is fully vetted. Because flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable.**
Our beautiful Bella came to us the way so many of our amazing dogs do, as a product of the over-populated streets of Houston. She found herself on the euthanasia list at a local shelter for no other reason than she didn’t have a family to care for her and the shelter didn’t have space to keep her. Her foster saw her pop up on a Facebook post and decided he couldn’t wait one more second to give her her freedom ride!
Bella is estimated by our vet to be a roughly 8 month-old Hound mix who will likely be in the 50-60-pound range when she is fully grown. She is currently a bit on the skinny side, but is in a great environment to gain healthy weight and some much needed muscle tone. Bella loves to run and play and would make an amazing addition to an active family. She is a medium-high energy girl, so her ideal family will be one that can fully commit to providing her with the exercise she needs to burn off her energy and will continue keeping her active and well socialized.
Her new family should also understand that having spent time on the streets and in the shelter, she may take some time to fully acclimated into a trust her new family. It is normal for dogs to take time to settle in to their new routines, which means they may have accidents and likely investigate (and maybe even chew on) things they shouldn’t. Bella’s perfect family will be one that believes in positive reinforcement and will be committed to giving her the time she needs to acclimate into a loving family environment.
Bella is an incredibly happy girl who has been well socialized with other dogs. She currently lives in a foster with other animals and she has a great time running and playing with her foster siblings every day. She also loves a good chew bone and relaxing out in the warm sunshine. Bella should be adopted by a family that plans to keep her as an inside pet and member of the family. We do not adopt dogs out that will be left unattended outside for long periods of time or who will primarily live outside. Bella would be an amazing running and adventuring buddy and would be a great dog park companion.
Bella will be off of her medical hold (just a precaution to make sure she doesn’t not get sick from being in the shelter) and ready to leave to her new family on June 18th. We are accepting applications for her adoption now and hope to have everything wrapped up so that Bella can head out to her new life as soon as she is ready.
Bella will be fully vetted by the time she leaves us for her new family (spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped). Bella is healthy and has no known health issues. She is heartworm negative and has been on flea and heartworm prevention since she was brought into rescue.
The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application through our website at www.reggiesfriends.org. Please hover over the adoptables tab for a link to the application. We can generally process applications within 5-7 days and would like adoptive families to be able to take custody of the dog within two weeks of the process being finalized.
