Miss B T.'s Story

Miss B is a sweet and loving 11 year German Shepherd who was found as a stray near Chicago, Il. and taken to the shelter. She has been rescued and is no longer in danger of not making it out of the shelter. The Midwest arm of the GSRNC Thulani Program in Peoria, IL is caring for her while they are looking for a new adoptive home.

The Thulani Program is a N. California group within German Shepherd Rescue of N. Cal (GSRNC) that is dedicated to rescuing senior or terminally ill German Shepherds that are in danger of not being able to live out and enjoy their golden years... Up until recently The Thulani Program operated only in California. Miss B T (T is for Thulani) is the first senior GSD in Illinois that the new Midwest arm of the Thulani Program will re-home for adopters in the greater Peoria area.

Miss B has been facing several challenges lately but she has done so with a relaxed and steady calm that Miss B is becoming known for. She has several medical issues that likely would not have been significant if she had been receiving regular medical care. She is being evaluated for sore front paws, some mammary lumps, ear blockage, and a tooth issue. The primary goal of The Thulani Program is to take care of these issues to the extent that they detract from Miss B`s golden years. As you will read latter...The Thulani Program continues to cover the medical costs of Miss B even after she is adopted.

Miss B seems to get along well with other well behaved dogs... and perhaps even a cat. We have observed that she has a relaxed approach to most other dogs and her wagging tail gives her warm heart away. For the occasion when other dogs are not well behaved or want to approach while she has a fresh meal or her favorite rubber toy she will let out a bark or two to let them know she expects them to be nice. We also observed Miss B within 3 feet of a cat at a vets office and while she did sound off with a single bark she did nothing else and finally ignored the cat entirely. We expect that Miss B could live with the ``right`` cat... but it would likely be the cat that would make or break things.

At present Miss B is living with a pack of 5 other GSDs. She has quickly been able to fit in and enjoy play/sleep time inside or out on an inviting green grassy area. Since many of the pack members are younger than Miss B she is leading the pack in the sleep area.

Now that Miss B T. has been accepted into the Midwest GSRNC Thulani Program her health and wellbeing remains our first priority. Miss B is now living with a Foster home where she will receive lots of love and pampering. Along with TLC, the Thulani Program will also see that she receives any medical care necessary to her wellbeing. In addition, as we learn more about Miss B, we will be looking to match her with a forever adoptive home that will care for her for the rest of her life. Miss B will come with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.

Miss B’s medical expenses will also be covered for the rest of her life by The Thulani Program!
