Nevada Bear T2's Story
Bear is a 12 year old German Shepherd that was surrendered by his owner in the Sierra Foothills.
He was described as a large, loving, docile dog that spends allot to time indoors. When he does venture outdoors he enjoys playing with his soccer ball.
As a senior dog Bear knows his way around a home and is not destructive when he is left alone... and he is house-trained!
We are still getting to know Bear but he has been described at calm, protective, affectionate, curious, mellow and playful. He is not fond of cats however.
Adults, older kids and non-aggressive dogs are fine with Bear.
Where Bear was living did provide him some winter-time challenges. It is common for the Sierra Foothills to have lightening accompany winter storms and this caused Bear to become frightened. On normal car rides Bear does fine in the car but on lengthy rides (many hours) we would sometimes develop an upset stomach.
Bear, like many older GSDs, does seem to have some weakness in his hind quarters and sometimes needs some help to get up.
UPDATE: Bear’s foster family reports that he is doing well and getting stronger. They also advised that he is addicted to watching TV. He is always watching for animals to appear and then will bark to try to get their attention.
Nevada Bear T2 has just been accepted into the GSRNC Thulani Program where he will receive lots of TLC to help him find his next forever adoptive home that will care for him for the rest of his life; in warmth and in love. Bear will come with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.
Bear’s medical expenses will also be covered for the rest of his life by The Thulani Program!
As we learn more about Bear we will update his bio.
