Lilo's Story
Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, July 2nd and Sunday, July 3rd from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 30th and Sunday, July 31st from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Lilo is a 3 year old Dogue de Bordeaux mix that we rescued from a shelter. She weighs about 60 lbs. Lilo is a lover! This couch potato will be in your lap if you`ll let her. She loves to play fetch, if you let her she will gladly play tug of war and then sit anxiously until you throw the toy to start all over again. Lilo does have a happy interest in other dogs and is currently living with a small dog who is not too interested in her. She also happily coexists with a cat in the house.
Lilo does great on walks- she does pull, but is quick to respond when pulled back to stay with you. Lilo knows sit, is still practicing stay and is learning how to lie down without immediately rolling over for belly rubs. Lilo is doing well with her crate training, but she does give some of the most convincing puppy dog eyes you`ve ever seen- so trainers will need to stay strong!
Lilo would do best in a home who wants a partner for walks, hikes, boat rides, or simply trips to the store. Lilo loves to be by your side, or even cuddled with you. She would do best in a home with knock over proof kids as she is still learning not to jump up for love. Lilo would do great with or without other animals in the home. She is food motivated, but a petite eater.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
