Sandi's Story
Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, July 2nd and Sunday, July 3rd from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 30th and Sunday, July 31st from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Sandi is a 19 month old Shiba-Jindo mix who we rescued off the meat trucks of Korea. She weighs about 25-30 lbs and will likely put on another 5-15 lbs before reaching her full size. Sandi has bonded with her foster mom and loves to jump in her lap or just be near her. She has taken a while to warm up to the other members of the household and will do best in a patient, quiet home that is willing to give her time and space to adjust to her new life.
Sandi loves her toys and likes to have something to chew on. She is very treat motivated, which will help with training. Her foster reports that she is quickly learning the potty-training routine. She sleeps through the night in her crate, and likes to go settle and rest in there when the noise of the house is too much for her.
Sandi is an option to join a home with a well balanced dog. She will eventually be an option to go to the dog park or doggy day camp. The girl we know today will be vastly different in a few months as she adapts and acclimates to new folks. She may never be a cuddly, in your face, kind of dog with strangers but she will definitely be that with her people.
Sandi is an option for a home that has had a dog in the past 3 years. If there are children, they need to be over the age of 12. She is an option for a home with or without other dogs. She is also an option for a home with cats.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
