Red's Story

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

2/20/16 Red is about 2 years old and was found as a stray. No one ever came forward to claim him. Red had a case of heartworms when we took him in but he has been treated and is now ready for his own home! Red is house trained (adopters should be prepared for accidents for the first few days, while he adjusts and learns his new home/schedule/expectations). He gets along well with other dogs but would do best with a female dog that is 35lbs or more, since he is a bit territorial with other males and too rough for small dogs. He would also do fine as an only dog. He is fairly energetic but very trainable. He just needs a home where he will have the opportunity to exercise, as most hounds need. He is a fence escape artist and requires a family who will never leave him outside unattended. His hound nose gets him into too much trouble and he could be gone before he knows it. Red loves all people and would especially enjoy a home where he has a chance to go for car rides - this is his favorite thing in the world and he stalks the door at his foster home, hoping to go any time someone comes in or out. :) He has the potential to be a great friend and companion for the right person. Red is located in Arkansas but out of state transport is available. For more info, email [email protected]
