QUEENIE's Story

Queenie is a 8-9 year old Shar Pei and Labrador Retriever mix in need of a loving home. Her owner passed away very recently of cancer and her current guardians (son and daugther-in-law) are unable to adopt Queenie and her bonded pair Hannah due to a serve allergy. Due to the allergy they have been forced to pay someone to visit the dogs at the home of their deceased owner to be fed and walked. This is a very difficult time for the family and the financial strain is taking its toll.

Queenie is on medication and a special diet for allergies (skin and diet) and has a thyroid condition, her current owners are willing to work with an adopter to help pay for some of these medical expenses.

Queenie`s current guardians have taken the time to complete a questionnaire that Adopt-a-pet.com provided. The following section gives you detailed information about Queenie in the words of and directly from people that love her very much and desperately need to find her a loving home.

``Queenie is so sweet and playful, she loves to get her tummy rubbed!``

Activity level: Moderate/goes on 2 walks per day/playful

Adjectives to describe him: (her) Cute, sweet, loyal, warm personality

Best qualities: Very sweet, loyal, loving, happy; she will be your best friend

Favorite activities: Getting her tummy rubbed, eating cheese and treats and going on walks

Cute/funny quirks? Loves to sleep on the bed! Likes to jump on the couch and roll all over the place.

Special toys/treats: None really, she likes anything and isn’t picky

Loud/quiet: Quiet- but she will bark when strangers come to the door; good watchdog.

What do you think the ideal home for this dog would be? Probably not young children since she is little older (but I’m not sure); her new owners should have time for her and be able to take her on walks (at least around the block) for exercise. Her new family should not be gone for extended periods of time (other than normal work hours etc.) so that she has a lot of companionship.

Medical/behavioral needs: No behavioral problems! She is a REALLY good dog. Queenie has allergies (including a skin allergy) and a thyroid condition. She takes regular daily medicine for her allergic skin condition and thyroid condition (which is completely under control). She also has a special diet because of her allergies, so she needs a special dog food and treats (we have a list from the vet). Otherwise she is in good health.
