Caesar's Story

Caesar has been doing super with his permanent foster mom. She loves him dearly and has seen him transform into a totally different dog since we first brought him into NEPR. Update on Caesar: Caesar has become comfortable in his foster home and we have decided that he will remain in foster care permanently. Since he has done so well in his current location, and it took him years to get to this point, we feel that giving him a happy life there is best. If you would like to become a sponsor, you can donate for his medicine through our website www.nepyresq.org And his foster mom can send you updates on him. A note from Caesar`s foster mom: What happened to Caesar to turn this 5 year old sweet boy into a scared, timid and emotional mess. That is the question we find ourselves asking more times than not when working in rescue. Caesar came into rescue with these issues. He is unable to accept any human contact without shaking and losing bladder control. Every so often he would allow someone to pat him but it was rare and very hard for him to accept. This sweet scared dog was determined not to ever be adoptable and would likely need to be put down unless we find a way of breaking that shell. It has proven to be quite a feat. We were asked to take Caesar to our home in NH where he could start to learn to be part of a pack. He also needed to learn to trust people again. Since coming into rescue, Caesar has been on anti anxiety medicine which keeps him from having a total nervous breakdown. He has been slowly coming around but we have had many steps back in his rehabilitation processes. Once in our home, we found that he was passive when it came to interacting with our other dogs. He has not one aggressive bone in his body and that became evident when we were given a pyr puppy. Caesar adores the puppy and watches how my husband and I interact with the puppy and the other dogs. He is learning to trust very slowly. He will allow me to pat him when I am with puppy by backing up into me and allowing me to rub his back. This has been such a long process but we are hopeful that these small steps will turn Caesar into a dog that is confident and less fearful. We need your help to keep working with Caesar. Please consider helping us to help Caesar by sponsoring him so that we can help pay for his medication. We can do the rest. We have high hopes for Caesar. He deserves to live up to his name. www.nepyresq.org and click Donate
