Niko's Story
We know Niko is cute but PLEASE READ HIS ENTIRE BIO BELOW BEFORE SUBMITTING AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. PAWS will only consider applications aligned with his very specific needs. Do you enjoy having your daily routine dictated to you by a 37 lb doe-eyed, curly-haired cocker spaniel? Do you have a room to dedicate just to him? Seriously, this dog requires his own room. Niko is a young adult cocker spaniel who has lived most of his life receiving intensive behavioral training through PAWS. We think that he is ready to start searching for his special person, but realistically he is looking for a very particular forever home. Niko has significant resource-guarding tendencies and needs an owner committed to managing that guarding behavior for the rest of his life. Niko likes dogs and can go on walks with them, but he cannot live with other dogs. Niko has not lived with cats, but again, because of his guarding history, cannot be placed with them. He cannot be in a family with children and cannot be placed in a home where children visit frequently. Niko will only be successful in an environment where he has space for his extra large crate, which likely means a room must be dedicated to this small guy. So, why would anyone consider adopting Niko? The simple answer is that he loves his people and has personality for days. Probably too much personality, but we have already established that. PAWS is committed to giving every animal in our care the individual consideration that they deserve and need. We know his perfect home exists and he will stay safely in our care until we find it.
