Annie's Story
Hi! My name is Annie...I love people! I am a 4 year old beagle/shepherd/boxer mix of some kind. We are not really quite sure. I`m pure muscle, all 40 lbs of me, and full of energy. I love to run and play and would need a nice big yard to do so. I can be dog selective but with lots of treats and positive affirmation I have really learned to love some of my dog friends. I love kids but the folks here at ARF would prefer me to be in a home with teenagers because I can be too strong for little ones.
Annie’s Story from her “Forever” Family
The only reason Annie is up for adoption is because I recently fell resulting in multiple broken bones. Because I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis it is now unsafe for me to have any dog in our home. I adopted Annie from ARF a year and a half ago from rural southern Mississippi. She was a stray who somehow had landed in a high-kill animal shelter prior to rescue. We think she is part hound and perhaps part boxer. Her vet estimates she is approximately 3 1/2 - 4 years old and is up to date on her shots. It also appears she had a litter of puppies prior to adoption. Annie is a beautiful dog and very sweet natured. She is a friendly, people-oriented dog who has moderate energy and is very quick. She loves fetching a ball or frisbee, playing tug-of-war, riding in the car, and taking long walks. She loves children but she cannot live with cats. She knows how to sit, lie down, stay, wait, sit up, stand up, roll over, and come on command and answers to a human whistle. She is energetic in the morning and likes to play, but relaxes and can sleep much of the day. She is quiet in the evening and sleeps through the nights. She is eager to please, responds to positive reinforcement and is highly treat motivated. Sometimes she exhibits aggressive behavior toward other dogs, but with a slow introduction loves to play. Based on our time with Annie, we believe she would thrive in a home with a loving, attentive owner. She has brought such joy and fun into our lives. It breaks my heart to give up Annie. I`ll miss our daily walks, and the wagging white tip of her tail when she’s curled up on her Cooleroo about to be petted. I can only hope she finds another loving home. She has a lot of love to give.
