Sandtart's Story
Hello there, I'm Sandtart! You can call me Sandy though, like my foster mom does! I was rescued in December of 2023 from a commercial breeder. I am a little afraid of new people, especially tall men, like my foster mom's dad. I was really afraid of him at first, but with a little patience and frequent visits from him, I have learned that he is a gentle guy with good treats. My foster home has cats and dogs, and I am good with both. My ideal home will have at least one other dog for me to pal around with. I am a sweet little girl, only about 20 pounds. My foster mom says I need to work on gaining a little weight. I like to eat, so that is definitely okay in my book! I love food, and I prefer to eat in my crate where I can take my time with my meal. I am looking for a quiet home with adults - no noisy little humans to scare me. Someday I will be ready for little humans in my life, but for now I am hoping for just grown ups, or maybe older kids who understand that I am shy. I will need a fenced yard, or someone who will always leash walk me. I am too afraid of the world to be outside without a leash or a fence. Another dog will really help me learn the routine in my new home. I have done great with housebreaking! I am almost potty trained. I only had one accident in my foster home. My foster mom takes me outside every 2-3 hours and I caught on right away. My foster mom tells me that in a new home it is normal to have a few accidents. I really like to snuggle, but I don't know how to ask for it yet! My foster mom will pick me up and sit on the couch with me and I love that. I will even roll over for belly rubs. I would love to have a home where I am allowed on the furniture - couches are awesome! So cozy! Overall, I am really just looking for a human family who will help me blossom and become my best self. No one at the farm ever gave me the chance to open up...maybe you can be my person? Sandtart is approximately 4 years old. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, negative for heartworms, and has had a dental cleaning. She needs a patient adopter who will help her mentally recover from the trauma of her previous life. Sandtart is being fostered in southern Lancaster county, interested families must be willing to travel to her foster home to meet her, and bring along any existing dogs in the home. She is loving the comfy home life, and we look forward to seeing her blossom in a forever home! Please apply at zoeshouserescue.com if you are interested in meeting Sandtart.
