Kingston's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Kingston needs some consistency and a calm, patient, adult home as the little guy has already been in 2 homes in his short life. He is housetrained, playful, and enjoys spending time with people and going for walks. He warms up quickly to women, taking longer to do so with men. His 1st owners wanted a travel buddy and planned to take him on airplanes, but they found Kingston did not like car rides. He barked and whined loudly the entire ride, and nothing really soothed him. He was anxious, even on short car rides, and afterwards was distressed and needed time to relax. Kingston did not do well with airplanes and crating, either. So, he was given to another family. His 2nd family had a 6 yr old child, who chased and scared Kingston. His barking and insecurities increased, so the family surrendered him to PRBJ. Kingston does barks a lot, whether crated or not, probably due to insecurity being in so many new situations. We have noticed that he will bark loudly and continuously if he does not feel secure about what is going on. Something to consider if you live in an apartment, shared wall community, or if you are working from home. He would be best with owners who are home much of the day, so he can hang with his humans, go on walks, and get used to a routine and new people/situations. Maltipoos require daily brushing to keep coat clean and mat free. Regular 4-5 week grooming appts are needed to keep face and head trimmed as they are prone to overgrown hair in their eyes and ears.
