Khloe's Story
Khloe is a spunky, playful 8 week old lab mix that weighs 10 lbs. She is estimated to be around 55-60 lbs when she is full grown. She's described by her foster mom as being inquisitive, resilient, confident, snuggly, and social. She is a social butterfly that loves everyone she meets, including humans, dogs, cats, and even rabbits! She thoroughly enjoys the company of humans the most though, and loves nothing more than to cuddle up on the couch for some snuggles every chance she gets. She loves playing with both the dogs and cats in her foster home, and has demonstrated that she can hold her on against the big dogs during playtime. She is a smart pup that is easily motivated to engage in training activities. She even figured out how to use the dog door in her foster home within a few hours of being there. Her favorite activities include exploring the outdoors and splashing around in water, so if you have a pool for her to swim in or can take her on nature adventures near a lake or river, she will be the happiest girl in the world. Khloe is low to medium energy, so she has short spurts of energy that are easily burned with a few short exercise sessions per day. As she grows older, her energy level will increase, but she's overall a mellow little gal. When she's not playing with her furry friends in her foster home, she loves playing with squeaky toys, chasing after balls (although she doesn’t know how to bring it back yet), playing little games of tug, and playing in the water. She can be easily entertained with a toy box full of toys and chew bones while you're working from home, and is happy to hang out on a dog bed next to you while you work. As she gets older and perfects her leash training, she would love to go for walks on nature trails and engage in more fun outdoor activities, even if it is a leisurely stroll in the park a couple times a week. Khloe is dog, cat, rabbit, and kid friendly. She does well with dogs of all ages and sizes, and while she can tolerate some rougher play, she really does seem to enjoy more dainty players as playmates. As long as her doggie friend listens to her requests for space / listens when she tells them they’re being a bit too much, she does just fine adjusting to different styles of play. She would prefer to have a playful doggy friend in her forever home. She also has some kitties and a rabbit in her foster home as well, and loves them, too. She loves to hang out with the kitties as they sunbathe on the porch and even hops in the cat tree to nap sometimes with them. She would thrive in a family environment with kids of all ages, and would love to have some small humans to play and snuggle with. Khloe is currently working on mastering her potty training skills and currently uses a potty pad in her foster home, but she has started transitioning outside for potty time. She learned how to use the doggy door and will let herself in/out to go to the bathroom, but at night she will use a potty pad if she needs to go. Se currently sleeps in a kennel and puppy playpen setup at night, but she would love to sleep with her human once she gets older. She will cry initially when you put her in the kennel for bedtime since this is her first time being away from her siblings and sleeping alone, but her foster mom is working on creating a structured schedule for bedtime so she is adjusting better. She will need help perfecting her leash training once she is in her forever home. Her ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that she can run around and play in, and also enjoy sunbathing on beautiful days. She would do well in an apartment, townhouse or condo as long as he has a human home majority of the day to continue working on her potty training and leash training, and can take her out for a few short walks per day as she gets older. Khloe will have a $200 refundable spay deposit added onto her adoption and transport fees because she is too young to be spayed at this time. She cannot be adopted into Canada at this time because of her age. If you are interested in adopting Khloe, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application. Khloe is in a foster home in Central Texas and will be transported once adopted. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back. Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets. The total cost to adopt is $830, which includes a $400 adoption fee, a $230 transport fee, and a $200 REFUNDABLE spay deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
