Dylan's Story
Dylan is a playful, affectionate 10 week old lab mix that weighs 15 lbs. He is estimated to be around 55-60 lbs when he is full grown. This sweet boy is very affectionate and he will give you the saddest puppy dog eyes when he wants to be held and cuddled by his human. As soon as you pick him up, he will snuggle into you and fall asleep as you rub his belly. Although he loves to be snuggled and cuddled, he isn't a stage 5 clinger. He is easily self-entertained, and will go off to explore the backyard or play with his toys when he's bored. He is inquisitive and loves to explore everything around him. He will sit outside on the back porch and observe the world around him. He loves watching people, other dogs, and squirrels outside, and would be the perfect pup to go sit at the park with and just relax as you people watch. His ideal family would be fun, laid back, and enjoys the outdoors. If you enjoy people watching in the park after a leisurely walk or hanging out at the beach watching the waves, Dylan is happy to join in on whatever activity you want to partake in. Dylan is medium energy, so he has short spurts of puppy energy that are easily burned with a few short exercise sessions per day. He can be pretty independent, and can easily keep himself entertained with a toy box full of stuffed animals and chew toys when his humans are busy. When his humans want to engage in playtime, his face lights up and he will bring over his favorite toys to play with them. He loves to play with his doggy friends too, and enjoys a good game of tug-o-war before he cuddles up with his human again for nap time. As he gets older and perfects his leash training, he would love to go for walks on nature trails and explore the world around him. He loves to sniff around and investigate new things, so offering him puzzle toys and snuffle mats would be a great way to keep him busy if you work from home. Dylan is dog, cat and kid friendly. He does well with dogs of all ages and sizes, and has been in a foster home with dogs ranging in age from puppy to senior. He can be independent, but he would benefit having another dog that he could continue learning from as he grows and also to play with. Although he loves other dogs, he is perfectly fine being a solo dog in the home as long as he gets plenty of time with his human and can have puppy play dates with doggy friends frequently. He is very respectful of the two resident cats' boundaries in his foster home. He doesn't interact with them much unless he wants to join in on playtime with the flirt pole. His sweet and playful temperament makes him the perfect pup to join a family with kids of all ages. He would love to have some human kids in his forever home to play and cuddle with. Dylan is currently working on mastering his potty training skills and has started transitioning outside for potty time. He does use a potty pad while his foster mom and dad are at work, but once they are home, he doesn't need a potty pad left out for him as he would prefer to go outside to do his business. He currently sleeps in a kennel and puppy playpen setup at night, but he would love to sleep with his human once he gets older. He will need help perfecting his leash training once he is in his forever home. His ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that he can sit outside to watch the birds and squirrels go by, and also to have some space to run, play, and explore. He would do well in an apartment, townhouse or condo as long as he has a human home majority of the day to continue working on his potty training and leash training, and can take him out for a few short walks per day as he gets older. Dylan will have a $200 refundable neuter deposit added onto his adoption and transport fees because he is too young to be neutered at this time. He cannot be adopted into Canada at this time because of his age. If you are interested in adopting Dylan, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application. Dylan is in a foster home in South Texas and will be transported once adopted. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back. Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets. The total cost to adopt is $830, which includes a $400 adoption fee, a $230 transport fee, and a $200 REFUNDABLE neuter deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
