Skittles's Story
3/17/24: Foster to adopt homes are needed! Meet our newest group of puppies transported from a rural shelter in Kentucky. We were able to save half of this group and get them out of the barn they were staying in after their family lost their home in a housefire. Jolly, Joy, Tootsie and Skittles are terrier mix pups about 9 weeks old at this time. A few of the adults that we pulled from the shelter are 30-35# so we believe the puppies will be 30-40# full grown as well. They all are scruffy with some of the adults being knee high while others were more short and long bodied so we think they may be a blend of scruffy terrier like a Cairn and perhaps a bigger dog like a Labrador mix, but the world will likely never know. The pups are a bit shy at first, but once they warm up they are full of life and energy. With such a sweet and fun disposition, we have decided to give them candy names from some of our favorite childhood treats. If you've been looking for a little sweetness in your life without the worry of getting a cavity, one of our Candy Bar dogs or pups may be perfect for you! Skittles, Jolly and Joy have already been spayed and Tootsie will be a bit later on so all are now ready to go to foster to adopt homes so that they can start their training, bond with their new owners and get some one on one tlc from their new families. They will need booster vaccines at our veterinarians office in 3 weeks and then they will be ready to make it official! If you've been thinking about adding a rescue to your life, now is the time and we have several dogs and pups looking for foster and foster to adopt homes right now! Due to their age, size and personality, foster to adopt homes should have the following: - Be located within 80 miles of Adams NY so that they can get the follow up veterinary care they need. - Have previous and current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spayed or neutered. - Since they are puppies, they should be okay with both dog savvy cats and active dogs in the home. - Due to their current size and disposition we are looking for homes with children over five years old. - Potential owners need to be willing to have current dogs and family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure it's an acceptable match. - Have time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet. An adoption donation of $450 is being asked at time of adoption to help cover veterinary and care fees. They have been examined, vaccinated, started on flea, tick and heartworm preventative, been dewormed nd if not already altered they will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/pet-adoption-application-form?fbclid=IwAR1rZn-XystQjCsgKwV9quBsLy9HXwLyo6A57JDwwgMlu7Mb0TYqLJlJnZk Please copy and paste a completed adoption application from our homepage with your inquiry if you would like a response back.
