Tammy's Story
There isn't much known about Tammy but we could tell from the moment she looked at us, she is a sweetheart just hoping for someone to make her their special girl. She quickly came to her foster momma with a happy butt but she was timid when approached by her foster daddy. However it was only the matter of a day or so for her to see that he was patient and kind, allowing her to come to him. She now allows him to love on her, pick her up, etc. This bundle of love enjoys the privilege to just sit near you, follow you and just be in the same room. She especially loves to sit on your lap while you read, watch TV or some other "down-time" activity. She has only had one accident inside when she arrived and we believe that was from the fear and stress of being in an unknown place. She will let you know with a very low whimper if she needs to go out to relieve herself or is lonely. She is working on allowing her fur momma to decide where to go when walking on a leash. She has a "low maintenance" nature with a gentle spirit unless she is eating. We do not give her food or treats with other dogs around. Her possessive reaction is most likely from years of having to assert herself for survival since she came from a dog hoarding situation. She is especially defensive when another fur baby, even in a friendly manner, invades her space by getting nose to nose. She has an adorable habit of standing on her hind legs like a meerkat when she is excited or trying to see above a barrier. She is quick to escape if she feels confined so she will need a fenced in yard without a lot of gate activity or someone who will take her out on a leash. She does not seem to acknowledge her name so we have been calling her Roxy - so we bet her Furever parents can rename her very easily if they desire. We do not have cats so her interaction with them is unknown. While she does better with our smaller older dogs than our large 2-year old (who has tried to play and received a firm warning to back-off), she would do best in a home as the only dog. It's also best if her Furever home is an environment that gives her time and space to build trust and without young children. __________________________________________________ This dog's adoption fee is $525.
