Moana's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Moana is a 1-year-old adorable and cute Chihuahua and miniature Australian Shepherd mix (best guess). She weighs 9 pounds. Her favorite things are Sitting on laps/sofas or curling up various dog beds. Playing with toys especially big ones that barely fit in her mouth. Giving huge greetings when someone comes home. Sunbathing and running circles in the yard. Cuddling next to a human in a bed. She is a happy dog, and her personality shows so much enthusiasm for life. Some words to describe her are calm, content, loving, and loyal. She has big brown eyes which give her that dreamy look. Her tail wags constantly wanting to be part of any action going on in the house and she thrives when attention is given to her. Moana is extremely smart and is a "everyone" type of dog equally compatible with and equally loving all members of her foster family. This dog is friendly to every person wagging her tail or giving a greeting by getting up on her hind legs. When the foster mother works from home Moana positions herself on the sofa next to the computer desk settling in for a nap or to just watch her. Moana can be the only dog in the house or can live with another dog. Moana adjusted immediately to her foster home that has one small dog. She decided which toys in the toy box would be hers and carried them around the house. Moana also loves looking in the mirror thinking there is another dog in the house not realizing it is her! She is usually a quiet dog but when her foster family leaves the house, they notice she has some separation anxiety (using Ring cameras) such as whining, howling, and barking. Sometimes she will settle down in a few minutes and go to sleep but other times she will continue to make noises. Her previous owner let 4LD know she does not like to be left alone. As Moana continues to live in the foster house the family has witnessed her becoming more secure each day. Recommendation from 4LD - Moana should live in a single-family home where there are no adjoining walls because of how noisy she can possibly get when initially left alone. She gets excited when a harness and leash are picked up running to the door sitting down to make it easy to dress her. Moana loves walks but tends to lose focus with all the "fun" stuff to smell and see on the way. As she gets more practice leash walking her concentration should become better. Moana is mostly potty trained. She has had some accidents in the foster home as she is adapting to the new environment. She listens so with continual training from the permanent adopter Moana should become fully housebroken. Moana's adoption fee is $600. This dog comes microchipped, spayed, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, and heartworm tested. She is currently being fostered in the Tampa area. ----------------- ***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL.
