ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13683 Name: Trooper Estimated DOB: 05/04/2024 Current Weight: 5 lbs Breed: Basset Hound / English Cocker Spaniel Mix Estimated Adult Weight: 40-50 lbs (approx.) About Trooper: Trooper is an endearing little pup from our Independence Pups litter. With his expressive eyes and floppy ears, this Basset Hound and English Cocker Spaniel mix is sure to capture your heart. Currently weighing 5 pounds, hes expected to grow into a well-proportioned adult, weighing between 40 and 50 pounds. Personality: Trooper is a lively and affectionate puppy. Hes always up for playtime and enjoys exploring his surroundings with enthusiasm. His playful antics and friendly nature make him a joy to be around. After an active play session, Trooper loves to curl up for a cozy nap. Training: Trooper is at the ideal age to start his training journey. Hes bright and eager to learn, making him a great candidate for basic obedience training and housebreaking. With consistent positive reinforcement and a bit of patience, Trooper will quickly learn new commands and behaviors, growing into a well-behaved companion. Ideal Home: Trooper would flourish in a loving and active home where he can receive plenty of attention and exercise. He would be a great fit for families, couples, or individuals who have the time and energy to dedicate to his upbringing. A home with a yard or access to outdoor spaces would be perfect for his playful nature. Health: Trooper is a healthy young pup and will come microchipped, and up-to-date on his vaccinations and deworming. Regular vet check-ups and a balanced diet will help him grow into a robust and healthy adult. Please note that Trooper is so young, he has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccines. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that the immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, he MUST stay out of public places where it could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for the puppys medical safety and longevity. If youre seeking an affectionate, playful, and loyal new family member, Trooper might be the perfect match for you. Apply today and see if hes the furry friend youve been looking for! Please keep in mind that Trooper is searching for - Someone who won't leave me home alone for more than 4 hours, at least not until I am older. The older I am, the more I can stay home alone. I just don't want you to get mad at me if I have accidents or chew things I'm not supposed to when you leave me for too long. I'm a puppy, so I get bored quickly and when I'm bored I could get in trouble. - I am looking for my forever home, not my for right now home. So as I get bigger I need someone to teach me how to be the best dog I can be. I am young and still learning. You may want to teach me some new tricks like sit, stay, etc. Professional training will help me bond with you. That sounds like fun! - I saved the most important for last. I am hoping my new mom or dad will snuggle with me, play with me and love me forever and ever! To adopt fill out the simple online application at https://ophrescue.org Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
