Clark's Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Clark, 6 year old neutered male, Brittany Spaniel mix, 73 pounds. Clark is in a foster home in San Antonio, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Clarks is in an apartment with two (2) other dogs (40 lbs each) and a mama cat with kittens. He's normally low energy in the house but will occasionally bump it up to medium if he is wrestling with the other dogs or is excited about something. Clark will go into the crate if guided and can tolerate it for short increments before he starts to get noisy. He gets anxious in his kennel and will shred beds or fluffy things, so it's best to ensure the kennel is empty when he has to be crated for more than a few hours. He is trusted to be loose and unsupervised for short periods of time and overnight without any issue. Clark does not pull on the leash and stays close by, but he will push you off to the side so he can walk in the middle of the sidewalk. ;-P Clark loves other dogs and regularly attends day camp. He does a lot of running around and wrestling. He's been around cats and kittens more recently and shown no interest after briefly interacting to sniff them. We do not have any history with children but given his gentle, easy-going nature, think he'd do fine even with young kids. In general, we recommend a home with kids who are old enough to understand and respect animal behavior cues. Clark will pull out plush and rope toys, but he doesn’t play…he chews on them. Stick with toys for a chewer. He does enjoy treats. Clark is a chewer and goes through a lot of chew sticks/bones. Clark is great in the car. He will often curl up and sleep (snores), and has no issues with thunder/lightening or fireworks. Clark is such a loveable guy. He is this perfect mix of calm, playful, and stubborn. He prefers not to be bothered while napping. If you try to wake him up to go outside, he will give you an “are you crazy” look and go back to sleep. He loves to receive affection and isn’t shy about approaching new people. Clark is truly wonderful and will make a great addition to a family. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him?
