Casper's Story
10/14/24: Foster to adopt home needed! Everyone meet Casper! He is a Mini Poodle/Maltese mix about 4 years old and 7#. He came to us just a few days ago from a hoarding case in Oswego County. A friend has been getting dogs out of the home a few at a time over the past several months and recently reached out for help. We have been able to get 6 out so far and will help to save more as they become available. Several of the dogs were severely matted and had feces, urine and fleas tangled in their fur. All were covered in hundreds of fleas and packed in flea dirt. Through it all, they are very sweet and gentle souls who just want to be be loved. Due to their circumstance, all will need work on training and housebreaking as well as confidence building. They will need patience and love. We have been able to get all groomed with the the help of local groomers volunteering their skills and have got their veterinary exams, vaccines, flea treatment, dewormimg and labwork done at our veterinarian. They will all be soayed/neutered prior to adoption. Due to their size and acivity level, foster to adopt requirements are: •Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY to continue their vetting as needed in the upcoming weeks. •Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered. •They should do fine with dogs and cats in the home •Homes with small dog savy children over 10 years old should be ok since they are nervous around gast movement and loud noises at this time. •Willing to have current dogs/family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure they are an acceptable match. •Having time available to care for, socialize and start training of a new pet. An adoption donation of $400 is being asked, if you decide to adopt, but fostering is free!! They had their vet check, are current on vaccines, intestinal, heartworm and external parasite treatment.
